How to Prospect on LinkedIn from Cursor Agent Mode (Item 12 MCP)
· how-to
Cursor Agent mode calls MCP tools while you code — or while you run a pure sales day in the IDE. Item 12 MCP adds LinkedIn CRM tools to Cursor: search_linkedin, saved lists, contact_enroll_workflow, list_inbox, move_deal. This guide is workflow-first; see our Cursor setup guide for token wiring.
Connect Item 12 MCP in Cursor
Settings → MCP → add remote server https://item12.com/mcp with Bearer token from Item 12 Settings. Enable Agent mode. Verify: @item12 list workspaces.
Morning: inbox triage prompt
In Cursor Agent chat: Using Item 12 MCP: list unread LinkedIn inbox threads from last 24 hours. For each thread show contact, deal stage, and suggest move_deal action for positive replies. Read-only first — wait for my approval before writes.
Afternoon: prospecting prompt
Prospecting prompt: Search LinkedIn for VP Marketing at Series B SaaS in North America. Import top 20 to list cursor-prospect-week. Enrich missing emails. Enroll into Outbound Connect agent. Summarize enrollment count.
Review queue reminder
Cursor can queue sends via MCP — all land in Item 12 Review. Open item12.com → Review before end of day. Agent mode cannot bypass human approval for live LinkedIn delivery.
Cursor vs Claude Code for Item 12?
Same MCP URL and tools. Cursor suits IDE-native reps; Claude Code suits terminal-native. See our Claude Code SDR agent guide for equivalent prompts.
Agent mode vs Chat panel?
Agent mode autonomously chains MCP tool calls with your approval gates. Use explicit read-only first prompt to prevent surprise writes.
Sales Navigator in Cursor search?
Item 12 search uses your connected LinkedIn account filters. Navigator may expand filter options depending on account type.
