How to Build a Quarterly LinkedIn Team Dashboard with Claude (and Item 12 MCP)
· how-to
Your VP asks: "How is LinkedIn outbound tracking against Q3 goals?" Instead of exporting CSVs from three tools, build a live dashboard in Item 12 and refresh it with Claude — in the app or over MCP. One screen: invitations by rep, messages sent, open pipeline, overdue tasks.
Prerequisites
- Item 12 workspace with team members on LinkedIn-connected accounts
- Team analytics enabled (Teams plan) for per-rep send metrics
- MCP token from Settings → MCP API (optional, for Claude Desktop refresh)
- LinkedIn connected in Settings so invitation and message counts are live
Step 1: Create the dashboard with a natural-language prompt
Open Dashboard → create or open your default dashboard → use the dashboard AI assistant. Paste:
- "Create a dashboard layout named Q3 LinkedIn Progress. Add: bar chart of invitations sent by team member, bar chart of messages sent by team member, pie chart of open deals by pipeline stage, stat cards for total contacts and overdue tasks, and a daily briefing widget."
- The agent adds widgets to your grid — drag to rearrange, rename the dashboard in the header
Step 2: Add quarter goals as a note widget
Add a Note widget: "Q3 targets — 400 connections sent, 120 meetings booked, $500K open pipeline." Pin it top-left so standups start with goals vs actuals. Update mid-quarter without rebuilding charts.
Step 3: Weekly MCP refresh with Claude
Every Monday, ask Claude Desktop (item12.com/mcp + Bearer token):
- "Give me pipeline_snapshot and list which open deals have been in the same stage more than 14 days. Compare org member invitation counts this week vs last week using team context."
- Paste Claude's summary into the dashboard note or your standup doc
- Export Team Analytics PDF for leadership from Team Analytics → date range = quarter-to-date
Claude Desktop vs Cursor vs in-app dashboard chat
In-app dashboard AI edits widget layout directly. Claude MCP adds narrative analysis and cross-references deals + inbox. Cursor suits technical managers who already use Agent mode. All three read the same workspace data.
Do dashboards update in real time?
Stat and pipeline widgets refresh on load. Team analytics charts reflect sends through the current day once LinkedIn activity is synced.
Can each rep see only their own numbers?
Workspace permissions control visibility. Managers see team analytics; reps see their assigned contacts and personal activity.
Does building dashboards cost MCP credits?
Dashboard layout AI uses workspace credits on premium plans. Reading pipeline_snapshot and org_list_members over MCP is free on standard CRM tools.
