How to Build an AI SDR That Finds and Messages LinkedIn Prospects Automatically
· how-to
The full AI SDR loop: find prospects → import to CRM → enroll in outbound agent → queue messages for review → send after approval. Item 12 scheduled agents run LinkedIn search (or Apollo filters) on a cadence, tag new contacts, and feed your SDR workflow — with human review as the safety valve. This tutorial builds that closed loop.
Architecture: search → import → enroll → review
- Scheduled prospect agent — LinkedIn search or Apollo filters on daily/weekly cadence
- Auto-import — new profiles land in a tagged list (e.g. auto-prospect-q3)
- Outbound workflow — connection + DM sequence enrolls new imports
- Review queue — nothing sends until a human approves each draft
Step 1: Set up a scheduled prospect agent
Open Item 12 → Agents → Scheduled agents → Create. Choose LinkedIn search or Apollo prospect source. Set ICP filters: title, company size, geography, industry. Cap daily imports (start with 10–20 net-new per day). Enable dedupe so existing CRM contacts are skipped.
Step 2: Map results to a tag or list
- Assign imports to tag auto-prospect-q3 (or per-campaign tag)
- Optional saved list for manager reporting
- Review imported contacts weekly — tighten filters if quality drops
Step 3: Auto-enroll into your SDR workflow
Configure your outbound agent enrollment rule: enroll contacts tagged auto-prospect-q3 on import, or run a daily MCP prompt — "Enroll all contacts tagged auto-prospect-q3 imported today into Enterprise SDR agent." Each enrollment triggers the connect → wait → DM sequence from the sequence design tutorial.
Step 4: Review queue as the safety valve
Autonomous prospecting without review is how LinkedIn accounts get restricted. Item 12 queues every connection note and DM — batch-approve in Review each morning. If the queue backs up beyond 50 pending items, pause the scheduled agent until caught up.
Step 5: Tune the loop
- Tighten search filters if accept rate falls below 20%
- Adjust AI prompt on DM step if reply rate is low
- Lower daily import cap when testing new ICP segments
- Tag replied contacts and stop their workflow runs immediately
Agency note: one loop per client workspace
Agencies run one scheduled agent + outbound workflow per client org. Switch workspaces in Item 12; each client LinkedIn account has isolated search filters, review queue, and agent config. See the marketing agencies page for multi-client setup patterns.

Is fully autonomous LinkedIn outreach compliant?
Item 12 requires human approval before send — you stay in control of copy and volume. Follow LinkedIn Terms of Service and your company's outreach policies.
What volume limits should I use?
Start at 10–15 new enrollments per day. Scale only after accept and reply rates stabilize over 2–3 weeks.
Can Apollo replace LinkedIn search?
Item 12 supports Apollo prospect scheduled agents with saved filters — useful when email enrichment or firmographic filters exceed LinkedIn search depth.
